Matthew Jacobson, MDiv, BCC, Palliative Care Program
Bio
I am the full-time Chaplain for the Palliative Care Program for Johns Hopkins Bayview. I have served in the role of palliative care chaplain for West Virginia Medicine in Morgantown WVa, Northwestern Medicine in Chicago IL, and Brown University Health in Providence RI.
I believe in the value of holistic care for every person, as well as, the collective mission of multi-disciplinary collaboration. Serving alongside fellow palliative and primary team members, I seek to cultivate a community which invites storytelling, meaning making, compassion, and peace.
Every patient and family brings their unique and sacred stories with them. I believe the stories we share about faith, family, quality of life, and love are good medicine to remember when facing serious illness. I also believe in the good medicine of humor and a great meal.
I am board certified with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. I enjoy road tripping, hiking, stargazing, singing out loud, cooking, gardening, fishing, and all things West Virginia.
