Kara Alcegueire

Kara Alcegueire, MD

GIM Fellow

Bio

Kara was born in Evanston, IL, and moved to South Florida as a child. Her interest in medicine started early in her life. She completed a nursing program in high school and became a board-certified LPN before starting college. She then worked as a hospice nurse during college and her gap years before medical school. Her experience as a hospice nurse inspired her to pursue a medical career focusing on equitable care. She completed medical school at Emory University School of Medicine and a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami’s Fort Lauderdale program. In Kara’s free time, she enjoys exploring her neighborhood with her dog Shadow and trying new restaurants with her fiancée, who is a software engineer. They look forward to making Baltimore their new home.
