I count it a privilege to be a part of a professional group where people still aspire to the ideals of being a personal physicians who put patients first and strive to study and teach skills that help others to do the same. The collaborative and generous team spirit is infectious!

Bio

I thrive in diverse mentorship roles, deriving much satisfaction from being able to apply my skills in medicine and teaching to helping students, residents, and faculty rise towards the ideals that inspired each to want to become a healer. I teach Community-Oriented Primary Care and precept in the resident continuity clinic. I also am one of the editors and authors for the third edition of the standard reference book for medical curriculum developers: Curriculum Development for Medical Education: a Six-Step Approach (JHU Press). In 2017, I won the Hopkins Institute for Excellence in Education (IEE) Award for Teaching Excellence for part-time faculty and was also a co-winner of the IEE Educational Innovations Award. Most recently in 2020, I was awarded the Professor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

I honed my communication, negotiation, leadership skills and creativity as a wife, mother, and daughter, and in various volunteers roles with Girl Scouts and through my church.
