Primary Care Residency Program

Mission

The Johns Hopkins Bayview Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program provides a comprehensive and innovative learning experience to develop future healers and leaders in primary care medicine. Our program graduates are prepared to practice evidence-based, patient-centered primary care medicine for all patients across diverse clinical settings.

Our Focus and Approach Sets Us Apart

We are one of the original primary care internal medicine training programs in the United States. We do not rest on our laurels and we are continuously trying to innovate and improve.

Experience Yields Connections

We have a vast International Alumni Network. Graduates of our program are located across the nation, and throughout the world. Our alumni network is a great resource for our residents as they pursue training opportunities, and when they are designing their life and career plans. When your residency training with us is over, you will join this cohort – we will ask you to reach back and support our trainees that are coming behind you.

As a medium-sized residency at a major academic medical center, we cherish the ability to customize the housestaff’s experiences to meet their individual interests. The division’s longstanding faculty members are well connected; this allows us to arrange unique experiences for residents that align with their career interests, goals, and development plans (e.g. rotations at Indian Health Service or ABC News, global clinical and research electives, health policy work…)

As a passionate primary care and medical education enthusiast, I feel blessed to work in the Johns Hopkins Bayview Primary Care Internal Medicine program, an unparalleled primary care training environment. The Johns Hopkins Bayview Primary Care Program has a rich tradition of training exceptional primary care physicians with innovative educational experiences and opportunities tailored to residents’ unique interests. Our community of residents, faculty, and multidisciplinary team is truly a family. It is a joy to watch our residents become the physicians they always aspired to be.
